Lower environmental impact
The Waybeam Track System has a lower environmental impact than concrete schemes (shown above) because of the difference in the volume of material required and the Waybeam Track System uses recycled materials, for example in the key blocks
Easier maintenance
Unlike rail systems that use mastic or grout (shown here), Waybeam’s system of blocks makes it easier to access the rail for maintenance
Flexible application
The Waybeam Track System is flexible and can be operated on a line that has both street-running and non-urban sections
Utilities
The system requires less ground excavation and a minimal requirement to relocate utilities
Large span length
The Waybeam Track System can span voids up to 2.5m wide, which can reduce the cost of enabling works
Cost-effective
The Waybeam Track System uses conventional rail profiles rather than profiles designed specifically for tramways which are more expensive to produce
Adaptable
Variants of the Waybeam plain section trough accommodate conventional points mechanisms and frog baulks, as well as curves. The system can connect to conventional heavy or light rail systems.
Certified
Waybeam Track System will be certified to connect with and operate along side Network Rail and other light rail systems
